Mohsen Baghernejad Moghanjooghi (Tehran, 1988)

He lives and works in Turin, where he attended the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in 2020. Originally arriving in Italy to pursue fashion, he worked as a textile designer for a studio in Como, maintaining the collaboration until 2019. He moved to Italy in 2011 after five years as an assistant in an architectural practice. This experience, together with his work as a building conservator at Studio Rava, led him toward the use of construction materials such as cement mortars, bricks, and stone, and to a deeper understanding of their role in past civilizations, particularly lime-based mortars.

In 2017, together with nine other artists, he founded the independent collective Bastione, a space for exchange and research promoting emerging contemporary artistic practices. Since 2025, he has transformed D’io Bio, a project initiated during the Una Boccata d’Arte residency in Calabria, into an agricultural enterprise dedicated to mushroom research and cultivation.

He has participated in solo and group exhibitions as well as artist residencies throughout Italy. Recent activities include: Respira e muta, Voga Art Project (Bari, 2024); D’io Bio (Una Boccata d’Arte), Santa Severina (Crotone, 2023); Summer Love, Welcome Home, ME Vannucci Arte Contemporanea (Pistoia, 2023); PerPIRUZ, Associazione Bastione (Turin, 2022).
